Hidden Gem Dining at Boatwright’s Dining Hall – A Delicious Night at Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside

One of the true joys of a Disney vacation is stumbling upon a dining experience that totally surprises you—in the best way. That was exactly our experience with Boatwright’s Dining Hall, located at the charming Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside. This Southern-inspired table service restaurant might just be one of Disney’s best-kept dinner secrets.

A Warm Southern Welcome

Our evening began with complimentary cornbread, served warm and buttery. When I say this cornbread was AMAZING—I truly mean it. I could have made a meal out of it alone! Sweet, savory, and just the right texture… every bite was perfection.

Starters That Shine

For our starter, we both ordered the French Onion Soup Au Gratin. The rich broth, topped with melty, golden cheese and a toasted crouton, was full of flavor and comfort. It was the perfect beginning to our meal and exactly what you’d hope for in a French onion soup.

Main Course Magic

We couldn’t resist the Roasted Prime Rib, and it did not disappoint. This hearty entrée is slow-roasted and topped with a flavorful Cajun butter, served alongside mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

Adam chose to have his blackened, which added a spice to the already tender cut of meat. He also swapped out the mashed potatoes for macaroni & cheese, which was creamy and indulgent—a great option if you’re craving a little extra comfort food.

I stuck with the mashed potatoes and paired my meal with a refreshing unsweetened iced tea!

A Lucky Find

The best part? This was a spur-of-the-moment walk-up. We didn’t have a reservation and just happened to check for a table—and luck was on our side! It was a peaceful, cozy dining atmosphere that made us feel like we had discovered a true hidden gem in the middle of Walt Disney World.

Final Thoughts

If you’re staying at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside or even just visiting for the evening, Boatwright’s Dining Hall is absolutely worth the detour. Whether you’re a fan of Southern comfort food, steakhouse classics, or just on the hunt for an underrated Disney dining spot—this place delivers.

✨ Pro Tip: Try the cornbread. And then maybe ask for more. You’ll thank me later.
